Description
This 2 troy ounce .999 fine silver round from Intaglio Mint pays homage to the highly popular Walking Liberty design used by the US Mint on half dollars from 1916 until its replacement with the Franklin design in 1948. The design is the result of a competition held by the Commission of Fine Arts in which the Walking Liberty depiction, created by Adolph A. Weinman, won and was selected for use. It is considered one of the most beautiful US coins to have ever been minted, and was reused again since 1986 for production of the American Silver Eagle (the most popular silver bullion coin in the world).
Obverse: Lady Liberty draped in the American Flag, holding olive branches, and walking towards the sun along with the date “1941,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the word “LIBERTY” are all inscribed.
Reverse: An American Bald Eagle, the weight, the purity, and “E PLURIBUS UNUM” are all inscribed.
Diameter: 39 mm; Thickness: 6 mm.
