The United States Mint has charted a new course forward into the future for its American Eagle silver and gold coins. Both versions of the popular American Eagle received new designs on the reverse field at the midway point of 2021. This resulted in two versions released in 2021; one featuring the old design and the other with the new design. Among the options released by the mint is this 2-Coin Designer Set with both versions of the 2021 coin struck in beautiful reverse proof.

The Coins arrive inside capsules with a two-coin presentation case and a Certificate of Authenticity! They have a limited mintage of only 125,000 coins and contain 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver per coin. American Silver Eagle Coins have long featured a reverse design with the image of the heraldic eagle of the United States since 1986. The design was modernized that same year by John Mercanti for use in the series. In 2020, Emily Damstra’s design of the soaring bald eagle was chosen from a field of more than 35 designs to be the new representative issue on the Silver Eagles. Ms. Damstra has vast experience working with the Royal Canadian Mint and United States Mint, and is a member of the Artistic Infusion Program at the US Mint.

Obverse designs on the 2021 Reverse Proof American Silver Eagle 2-Coin Designer Set pieces feature Walking Liberty. Both coins have this 1916 design from Adolph A. Weinman that was originally featured on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar. Reverse visuals on the coins in the 2021 Reverse Proof American Silver Eagle Designer Sets include two different designs. The Type 1 coin has the heraldic eagle design from Mercanti, while the Type 2 coin features the new soaring eagle from Damstra.
