Designed by Anthony de Francisi, the 90% silver Peace dollar was created to celebrate the peace that followed the culmination of World War I.  The first Peace dollars were struck in the waning days of 1921, and they were minted every subsequent year through 1928, and then again in 1934 and 1935 after a five year break from 1929 thru 1933 when no Peace dollars were minted.

Like its predecessor the Morgan dollar, Peace dollars are made of 90% silver and 10% copper, and with a minted weight of 26.73 grams, they have a net fine silver content of .7734 ounces of pure silver.

The obverse of the Peace dollar features de Francisi’s depiction of Liberty, with the word “LIBERTY” across the top, the motto “IN GOD WE TRVST” across the center – with the intentional spelling of “TRVST” rather than “TRUST”, and the date below Liberty’s bust.  The reverse features the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” across the top, with the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, meaning “Out of many, one” immediately below.  Beneath the motto is the side view of a right-facing bald eagle standing on a rock with the word “PEACE” written across the rock, and the denomination “ONE DOLLAR” split on either side of the eagle.

Peace dollars are an extremely popular investment coin, prized for their large size, their beauty, their 90% pure silver content and their relatively low premium over their actual silver value.  These Peace dollars are in “Almost uncirculated” condition or better, meaning they will exhibit very little to no wear, although coins might exhibit any combination of contact marks, tarnish, toning, spotting or staining.  Order yours today!
