Description
This 1 troy ounce .999 fine silver round from The Golden State Mint is a tribute to one of the most beautiful US coins ever produced, the stunning $20 “Saint-Gaudens” gold piece that was designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and was first placed into circulation in 1907. This classic design was so well received by the public that the obverse design was later re-adopted for use on the modern gold American Gold Eagle bullion coins which were released beginning in 1986. The classic Saint-Gaudens gold pieces are .900 fine and contain .9675 ounces of pure gold, and they were produced for use in general circulation from 1907 to 1933, although none of the 1933-dated pieces were ever actually released into circulation.
Obverse: Lady Liberty holding a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other.
Reverse: A Flying eagle with a rising sun emitting rays behind it. Also inscribed are the weight, purity and “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
Diameter: 39.3 mm; Thickness: 3.2 mm.
