This 1 troy ounce .999 silver coin pays tribute to creator of America’s first official flag – Besty Ross. Legend has it that in 1776, George Washington and members of the first Continental Congress committee visited Ross and requested that she attempt to design a flag for our new nation. She created it out of red, white and blue cloth with 13 five-point stars and 13 stripes symbolizing the 13 original colonial states that made up the first United States of America. This coin makes a lovely addition to any patriot’s or stacker’s collection!

Obverse: The original American Flag or “Old Glory” as it was nicknamed, surrounded by a quote from George Washington that states: “LET THE THIRTEEN STARS IN A CIRCLE STAND AS A NEW CONSTELLATION IN THE HEAVENS.” Also inscribed are the weight and purity.

Reverse: A quote from Betsy Ross that says “OUR HEARTS ACHING, OUR PRAYERS PRAYING, OUR FLAGS WAVING, NEVER FORGET.” Also inscribed is the date “1776” as well as “LIFE, LIBERTY, THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS” and the word “FREEDOM.”
