Description
In 2011, the Utah Legal Tender Act was passed, allowing gold to be voluntarily used as currency for purchases within the State of Utah. In response, in 2019, Goldback, Inc. began printing currency notes with a thin layer of 24k gold within a polymer coating, with each note containing a certain amount of gold from 1/1000th of a troy ounce (1 Goldback) up to 1/20th of an ounce (50 Goldbacks). Designed to be spent, saved or traded, these bills feature different designs for each denomination that are in line with the cardinal virtues of Prudentiae (Prudence = 1 Goldback), Veritas (Truth = 5 Goldbacks), Justitia (Justice = 10 Goldbacks), Victoria (Victory = 25 Goldbacks), and Libertas (Liberty = 50 Goldbacks).
This particular 10 Goldback Utah note contains 1/200th of a troy ounce of 24k gold and features an artfully crafted design of a woman of Pioneer times holding a lantern (the light of truth) and two books: one titled “Judah” for the Bible and the other “Joseph” for the book of Mormon. In the pocket of her apron is a compass, and the words “walk in truth” are inscribed below her bare feet – symbolic of how walking in truth can sometimes lead us to walk down hard roads. The faith that many Utah settlers had in God led them to seek religious freedom, which ultimately led to them settling in Utah. There are many other hidden texts and symbols on this note, each symbolic of the importance of two-sided nature of truth.
Use these notes to purchase goods and services wherever they are accepted or collect and hold them for their gold value and artistic charm!
