Description
This 2024 Great Britain Royal Arms coin from The Royal Mint contains 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver. The obverse features the likeness of His Majesty The King Charles III, the 2 pound denomination, and the inscription “DG REG FD” (the abbreviation for the latin phrase “Dei Gratia Regina Fidei Defensor” which means “Grace of God, Queen, Defender of Faith.” The reverse contains the Timothy Noad reinterpretation of the iconic Royal Arms design originally designed by Eric Sewell. This version of the Royal Arms quartered shield is adorned with the crowned English Lion on one side and the Scottish Unicorn on the other. “HONI SOIT QUE MAL Y PENSE” is inscribed, meaning “shame on he who thinks evil on it.” The Royal Arms is a symbol of strength and majesty that has long been associated with the British Monarchy and is still a very vibrant sight displayed during modern official gatherings.
