The American Silver Eagle is the best-selling silver coin in the world. Its annual series in recent decades have regularly exceeded 10 million coins per year, with the mid-2010s seeing minting records fall on a near-annual basis. Alongside the BU Silver Eagle, the US Mint issues a Proof Silver Eagle for collectors.

Proof American Silver Eagles have been available from the United States Mint since the debut of the program in 1986. The more popular of the two collectible versions of the coin, the Proof Silver Eagle has been issued each year since 1986 with the exception of 2009. In 2009, the US Mint suspended numerous collectible coins to focus all available gold and silver blanks on its BU lineup of coins amidst surging demand for metals.

All of these 2022-W 1 Proof American Silver Eagle Coins are individually packaged by the US Mint. The coins are held in plastic capsules and come with a black presentation box from the United States Mint. The coin and its presentation box arrive in a themed shipper from the mint that includes a Certificate of Authenticity. Each coin has frosted designs and mirrored fields.
