Description
The African Elephant Series is minted out of the Bavarian State Mint in Germany and was first issued by Somalia in 2004 (up until this date, the Elephant was issued previously by Zambia). It is a part of the African Wildlife series that has become a highly popular staple amongst collectors, especially since its design changes every year to feature at least one elephant in a variety of depicted scenes.
Reverse: A close-up view of an elephant with is trunk drooping down to the bottom edge of the coin, with a tree and bird in the background. Also inscribed are the weight and the .9999 purity of the coin.
Obverse: The coat of arms of Somali Republic, the date and the denomination.
Diameter: 39mm; Thickness: 3 mm.
