Description
The America the Beautiful Silver Coin Series is notable for it’s large, and beautifully designed illustrations, making them a prized gift for the discerning silver collector. The Specimen version of this coin is vapor blasted after minting, giving them a distinctive matte finish. They are also incased in plastic capsule for added protection and are placed in a presentation box. In addition the Specimen version is distinguished from the bullion version by the “P” mint mark engraved below “IN GOD WE TRUST”.
This coin commemorates the Tuskagee Airmen National Historic Site, once an Air Force training base famous for being the site of primary flight training for the Tuskagee Airmen- the first African American pursuit squadron.
The reverse depicts a Tuskagee Airman pilot putting on his gear in front of the Moton Field control tower as two P-51 Mustangs fly overhead.
