Description
This 2021 round from the Germania Mint is the first release in the Germania Interkosmos series and contains 1 troy ounce of .9999 fine silver. The series celebrates the Soviet space program and the people and events that came from the historical Space Race between the USSR and the USA back in the 1960’s. This particular coin depicts Soviet Cosmonaut Yuri Gragarin and pays tribute to his status as the first human being to visit outer space on April 12th, 1961. This first release of the series is limited to a strict mintage of only 15,000 coins, making it highly sought after for collectors!
Obverse: A depiction of Yuri Gagarin and the Vostok 1 rocket, planet Earth, and stars. Also inscribed in Russian is “Gagarin – The First Man in Space.”
Reverse: The Hammer and Sickle State Emblem of the USSR, the date, and the denomination.
