Description
The America the Beautiful Silver Coin series originally launched in 2010 with the concept of releasing five new 5 oz silver coins every year. Each coin would feature a historical park or monument from 56 states, DC and five US Territories. The state of Texas represents the 49th coin released in this popular series from the US Mint. Each coin is beautifully crafted and designed and struck with five ounces of .999 fine silver. Both collectors purchase these coins due to their collectability as a US Mint series. And investors purchase them because they are unique and are priced competitive with other silver bullion offerings.
This coin’s design highlights the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. The San Antonio Missions is a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site preserving four of the five Spanish frontier missions in San Antonio, Texas. The outposts were originally established by Catholic religious orders to further spread Christianity among the local natives. On reverse of the coin, you’ll find the bell and arches which symbolize community. The Spanish culture is represented by the Lion, the San Antonio River is represented by the waves and the wheat symbolizes the heritage of farmers in the region.
While the reverse features a unique design with each release, the obverse side of these coins feature the familiar effigy of our very first president George Washington.
