The America the Beautiful Silver Coin Series is notable for it’s large, and beautifully designed illustrations, making them a prized gift for the discerning silver collector. The Specimen version of this coin is vapor blasted after minting, giving them a distinctive matte finish. They are also incased in plastic capsule for added protection and are placed in a presentation box. In addition the Specimen version is distinguished from the bullion version by the “P” mint mark engraved below “IN GOD WE TRUST”.

This coin commemorates John Brown and his men’s capture of the federal armory, now known as John Brown’s Fort at Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, who’s intention afterwards was to supply firearms to an anti-slavery uprising.

The reverse of this coin depicts the armory where abolitionist John Brown led a raid on Harpers Ferry in 1859.
