Description
Since their introduction in 1986, American Silver Eagles have been among the most popular and highly sought after silver bullion coins in the world. Containing one full ounce of .999 fine silver, the obverse features Adolph Weinman’s classic Walking Liberty design, first seen on the half dollars of 1916-1945, while the reverse features a majestic bald eagle with a shield for protection, holding a ribbon with the words “E PLURIBUS UNUM” (“Out of many, one”). The eagle’s talons are clutching arrows on one side and an olive branch on the other, symbolizing an America who always wants peace, but will fight if necessary to defend our freedoms. Above the eagle’s head are 13 stars, symbolizing the original 13 colonies.
