Description
Since their introduction in 1986, the American Gold Eagle bullion coin has become one of the most if not the most popular, well known and sought after gold bullion coins in the world. Available in 1 ounce, 1/2 ounce, 1/4 ounce and 1/10 ounce sizes, and available in both Uncirculated and Proof versions, these coins contain their full net gold weight plus a small amount of copper and silver, giving them a net purity of 91.67% fine gold. The 2007-W 1/10 oz Burnished American Gold Eagle features a special burnished uncirculated finish, and comes encapsulated in a clear plastic capsule nestled in an attractive presentation box. They are minted at the West Point Mint, and feature the “W” mint mark on the obverse below the date.
The obverse of the American Eagle gold coin is modeled after Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ classic design first used on the $20 gold pieces in the early 20th century, while the reverse features a beautiful depiction of a family of bald eagles, with one of the parents in flight as it returns to the nest.
