Description
This Austro-Hungarian Gold 20 Corona weighs 6.775 grams and is made up of a 90% gold composition. The Austro-Hungarian empire adopted a gold standard in 1892, which led to various gold coins being released into circulation. The 20 Corona coin, known commonly as “the Krone” for short, was restruck with a 1915 date mark due to its popular design and laws against mintage of newer gold coins (the old design was exempt, so they restruck it to escheat the laws).
Obverse: Emperor Ferencz Jozsef I standing and facing right with a scepter and a royal orb. Also inscribed is the date.
Reverse: Two angels holding the Austro-Hungarian coat of arms and the denomination.
