Description
Born to an African father and a Nantucket Indian mother around 1723, Crispus Attucks became the first casualty o f the American Revolution when, at about 47 years old, he was shot and killed in what would come to be known as the Boston Massacre in 1770. While he is regarded by some as an instigator or a villain, he is regarded by others as a hero. Nevertheless, he is honored on the 1998 Black Revolutionary War Patriots commemorative silver dollar coins, produced by the United States Mint some 275 years after his birth. Produced in stunning detail and with deeply mirrored “proof” surfaces, these 1998 Black Revolutionary War Patriots $1 silver commemorative coins come with their complete, original packaging, including a Certificate of Authenticity from the US Mint, and will be treasured collectibles for many years to come.
