Description
SCARCE VARIETY! The rare 1991 Type 2 Mexican Silver Libertad is a key date/variety for this series, and is therefore a “must have” for the serious collector. The Type 2 coins are differentiated from the more common Type 1 coins by a few striking differences: While the word “onza” is in lower case on the Type 1 coins, it is in upper case on the Type 2 coins ~ and the O and the Z are in a larger font than the N and the A. Additionally, the words PLATA PURA are in upper case on both varieties, but on the scarce Type 2 coins, the font sizes of the letters varies. Also, on the more common Type 1 coins, the tails of the 9’s in the date is curved, while the scarcer Type 2 coins have straight tails on the 9’s. Finally, the cactus pad below the eagle’s left talon depicts 8 dots on the Type 2 coins, where there are 7 dots on the more common Type 1 coins.
These highly sought after coins are very hard to find, so they should be purchased quickly when they appear ~ which is rarely!
