1 oz .999 Fine Silver Hercules / Lernaean Hydra – SKU #16402

Description

This is the 2^nd design in Provident Metals’ exclusive 12 Labors of Hercules series. The Lernaean Hydra coin is struck in one troy ounce of .999 fine silver and was manufactured at the ISO9001 certified Provident Mint, which employs rigid quality standards to ensure each round is of the highest silver purity. The Hydra, a snake-like beast with multiple regenerative heads, was created by Hera to destroy Hercules. After a lengthy battle that involved cutting off multiple of the Hydra’s heads and even burning them to avoid their regeneration, Hercules finally used his golden sword to decapitate the Hydra’s main “mortal” head in order to slay the beast.

Reverse: a scaled, multi-headed Hydra in striking position. “LERNAEAN HYDRA” and the Roman Numeral “II” are inscribed.

Obverse: Hercules, with Nemean Lion’s skin draped over his head as armor, holding his wooden club in his right hand. “1 oz CMXCIX FINE SILVER” inscribed beside him.
