Hercules’ 10th labor was one of his most difficult. This task involved travel to the island of Erytheia in order to seize the Cattle of Geryon. Upon arrival to Erytheia, Geryon, a monster with three helmets, three spears and six arms, was slain by Hercules. Hercules then led Geryon’s seized cattle through a quagmire of misfortunes until finally delivering them to King Eurystheus, who sacrificed them to Hera.
Reverse: Geryon, clutching two spears and two swords in his six muscular arms while wearing three helmets. “CATTLE OF GERYON” and Roman Numeral “X” are inscribed.
Obverse: Hercules, with Nemean Lion’s skin draped over his head as armor, holding his wooden club in his right hand. The inscription reads “1 oz CMXCIX FINE SILVER.”
