Description
For anyone trying to assemble a complete set of Susan B. Anthony (“SBA”) dollar coins, the 1981-S Type 2 coin is always a challenge! In 1981, the United States Mint’s San Francisco facility produced two distinct varieties of the Proof SBA dollar – the very common “Type 1” variety, which features an “S” mint mark resembling a perfectly rounded Figure 8, and a much scarcer “Type 2” variety, which features an “S” mint mark that much more closely resembles the “Superman” logo, where the “S” is more flat on the top, and features a bulbous upper tip.
These 1981-S Proof “Type 2” SBA dollars are hard to come by, so order yours today, while they last!
PLEASE NOTE: This listing contains an additional picture of the much more common “Type 1” mint mark which resembles a perfect Figure 8, for comparison purposes only. You will receive a coin with a scarce “Type 2” mint mark as described above.
