Description
The Silver Hawksbill Turtle is a part of the Silver Taku series from the New Zealand Mint that has become a popular staple in the coin collecting community. It contains 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver and each year is limited to a mintage of only 200,000 coins. It is a tribute to the Hawksbill turtles that are found off the northern coast of New Zealand as well as in other tropical waters in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. As a critically endangered species, celebrating this beautiful creature by minting it onto a government backed coin may help discourage others from activities that cause it harm.
