Description
Following the unexpected success of the Royal Canadian Mint’s four-coin Birds of Prey bullion series, the RCM decided to “bring the birds back” again — only this time, they are presented with a reverse proof design and a limited mintage of only 100,000 coins! These reverse proof birds of prey coins were designed by Emily Damstra, the same creator of the final two designs of the Canadian Wildlife Series that was highly popular from 2011 to 2013. Each coin contains 1 troy ounce of .9999 fine silver and a frosted reverse-proof finish in the background that highlights the detail and beauty of the bird in an almost mirror-like shine.
Obverse: The likeness of Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II along with the denomination and the date.
Reverse: Emily Damstra’s peregrine falcon design depicting the predator swooping down with open talons about to attempt to catch its prey. Also inscribed are the purity, weight, and metal.
Diameter: 38 mm; Thickness: 3.29 mm.
