The America the Beautiful Silver Coin Series is notable for it’s large, and beautifully designed illustrations, making them a prized gift for the discerning silver collector. The Specimen version of this coin is vapor blasted after minting, giving them a distinctive matte finish. They are also incased in plastic capsule for added protection and are placed in a presentation box. In addition the Specimen version is distinguished from the bullion version by the “P” mint mark engraved below “IN GOD WE TRUST”

The obverse of the coin showcases a detailed portrait of George Washington, the first President of the United States, as designed by John Flanagan.  Pictured on the reverse is the U.S.S. Cairo, a gunboat that played a significant role in the Union’s Western Theater operations during the Civil War. It participated in several campaigns and engagements along the Mississippi and Yazoo Rivers, supporting Union efforts to control key waterways and strategic points.
